BISCARDO

Towards the end of the 1800’s the Biscardo Family was in the textile industry as well as the wine industry, while the grandmother Teresa used to run the coaching house – hotel “Tre Corone”.

The winery was founded in 1878 and it was one of the first wine companies run by “Veronese” traders. Terenzio Biscardo was one of the first promoter of the wine commercial activities starting in the early 1900’s.

At the beginning of the 1900’s the brand Biscardo was spreading widely across the wine market thanks to the constant improvements in the wine making process. It therefore turned into one of the most celebrated brands.

In the 1930’s – 1940’s, the company was one of the first to reach the Italian market delivering wine bottles to restaurants. At the same time, the company entered the Swiss, English and German markets.

In the 1950s the Biscardo company became one of the most important of Veneto thanks to the hard work of Luigi Biscardo and through cutting edge investments in the winemaking and bottling process.

During the 1960s the industrial development of the company included the construction of the new wineries; in these years the export of Biscardo wines reached high levels in Europe and the USA, entering 39 states.

Amarone Biscardo became an outstanding success and it became one of the best sellers.

During the 1990s, the company continued their pursuit of innovation, progress and distinctiveness of wine production. In these years Biscardo gave birth to new projects.

After more than 140 years of winemaking tradition, the Biscardo family is still dedicated to enhancing the quality of their wines.

TERRITORY

The Biscardo Family manages its vineyards located in the most important and suited areas of Veneto region.

In the West part of the Verona province we produce, close to the Garda Lake, mainly Lugana. In the northwest part of the same province, we produce all the Valpolicella wines, in particular Ripasso, Amarone Classico and Amarone Riserva. The vineyards are located in beautiful hillsides with vines with an average age of 20/25 years, with a natural low production, excellent for high-quality production. In these areas, there is a special micro-climate (sunny, windy, good temperature range night and day, etc.) and soil that makes those hills among the best in the Valpolicella.

Finally, we have vineyards in the East part of the Verona province where we grow Garganega (the grape for Soave) on volcanic soils, Prosecco and other international red varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and white varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Grigio.

WHY BISCARDO?

Biscardo Family was one of the first Wine Family in Verona, in the early 1900’s to believe in the strength of the brand by selling bottled wines in restaurants and shops, while most of the producers were used to sell an unidentified wine in bulk. This philosophy, combined with the great quality of the products, made Biscardo recognizable in many countries of the world. Still nowadays we give great importance to the brand and the packaging, that in the meantime began very important for the sale.

But we did something more; to the classic Venetian production like Ripasso, Amarone, Lugana, Soave, Prosecco and Pinot Grigio, that we can consider “evergreen” we decided to put beside also a other wines, with a more modern style mainly focused for young or modern consumers, extremely selected but with a great ratio price/quality, perfect for a fresh and young public, very versatile, perfect for any occasion, formal and not. So we produced The Trilogy Project (Neropasso, Oropasso, Rosapasso), Enigma, 3 Ori, unique wines in Italy for the blend and/or for the style. These wines are very original, almost inimitable so they guarantee us a perfect recognizability all over the world.
