Colour is ruby-red shading to garnet. Bouquet very intense and forward with notes of spices such as cloves, walnut, violet, and gentian fruit such as currants and strawberries. The palate is full-bodied with a rich and generous, with a soft light vein of tannin over violets and a long lingering finish.
Vineyard: The vineyards where this Riserva originates are located at an altitude of between 200 and 280 metres above sea level. The soils contain Sant’Agata Fossil marls and roughly textured clay.
Pairs well with: This wine is perfect with traditional Piedmont recipes, like Nebbiolo risotto, ravioli with roast meat sauce and polenta with cheese. It is ideal with structured rice and pasta dishes and with red and white meats, such as pheasant “in Salmì” (salmis) and roast beef with hazelnuts.
